Mother Irena just delivered the first of her 11 children.

New mothers the world over have to answer that question. Boy or girl?

Once upon a time we had easy say, easy remember names like like Adam  and Eve?

Irene named her first born- a boy- Perodencio Pinotes.

Asian Persuasion

I scooped these up on my 50th Anniversary Tour of the Philipines.

The girls did not have much to smile about during the 1940's.The Japanese occupied

the islands. The backdrop was war. Islanders tell thanks goodness for so many island

hide-a-ways and General McArthur.


Meanwhile peace time today,

On my (2014) 50 year reunion my old stomping ground Subic Bay had been

decimated by  volcanic eruption. The villages,cities flourish  with constant assaults by

Sunamies.

Communication requires a knowledge of the dialects and currency(Peso). The English

language and dollar bills will not get you far into the Tropics.

What did you wear during the 1940's? Probably "Bib" style Denims

Wedlock

"What goes around comes around" Well almost. Creepers noted above when I was still in the womb have not made a come-back. The childs sleepwear with the potato sack bottom was 59 cents.  Baby blankets noted above 19 cts. Still waiting for those cheap deals.....tap..tap...tap.!

Webster (dictionary) defines 'wedlock' as right of marriage. Later generations 

misinterpreted wedlock  to describe   couple living together unmarried.  What is 

interesting here also is the fact Dad married in January . That's 7 months before I was 

born.

We never discussed why? Suggests to me it was honor rather than necessity.

Mom produced 3 children/5 years apart . Each born during the month of July.
